General Survey
Tianjin is a industrial, commercial, and
seaport city with a long history of over 600 years, and one of
the cradles of modern Chinese industry. As one of the
municipalities under direct jurisdiction of the central
government of the People¡¯s Republic of China, Tianjin is also
the largest open coastal city of North China, and the economic
center in the Bohai Sea Rim Area of China. It has a population
of 10,01,000 and an area of 11,305 square kilometers.
Dongli Economic and Technological
Development Area (DEDA) is at 41¡ãnorth
latitude and 117¡ãeast
longitude. Located along
Tianjin-Tanggu Highway linking Tianjin city proper to Tianjin
Port and is in the center of Dongli District of Tianjin known
as ¡°the Golden Corridor¡±, it is 120 kilometers from Beijing,
the capital of China, 14 kilometers from Tianjin city proper,
and 30 kilometers from Tianjin Port.

Transportation
Airport: DEDA is only 3.5 kilometers
from Tianjin Binhai International Airport, a state-level first
class airport and the largest airport for cargo transportation
in North China with an annual cargo handling capacity of
128,000 tons and over 40 international and domestic air lines.
Seaport: 30 kilometers east of DEDA
is Tianjin Port, the largest artificial seaport of China and
the largest international modern multi-functional seaport in
North China. There are 146 berths of various kinds, including
48 deepwater berths for 10,000-ton ships. With an annual
handling capacity of over 70,000,000 tons and over 1,000,000
standard containers, Tianjin Port has trade links with more
than 300 ports of over 160 countries and regions, and operate
more than 40 regular international passenger shipping lines.
Railway: 41 kilometers west of DEDA
is Tianjin Railway Station, the starting point of the
European-Asia Continental Bridge and a railway hub linking
Tianjin with Northeast China, Northern China, Eastern China,
and Southern China. The Chinese express railways which are now
under construction will meet here. Jinbin elevated light
railway connected with the subway in the city is being built.
It will pass DEDA and end at Tianjin Port Free Trade Zone.
Moreover, just one kilometer north of DEDA is Jingshan Railway
Line.
Highway: Expressways connecting
Tianjin with the vast areas in Northern China, Northwest
China, and Northeast China are integral part of the national
highway network of China. DEDA is located along Tianjin-Tanggu
Highway, 5 kilometers to the south of Beijing-Tianjin-Tanggu
Expressway and 2.5 kilometer away from Jinbin Expressway.
Communication between DEDA and Beijing, Tianjin, and Tanggu is
very convenient.

Natural environment
Climate:
Located in semi-humid temperate zone, DEDA enjoys a climate
between continental and marine climate, with obvious changes
of the seasons. The average annual temperature is 15 degrees
centigrade, the frost-free period is 230 days, and average
annual precipitation is 583mm.
Geology:
DEDA lies in an alluvial plain and its earth enduring power
stands at 8-12 tons per square meter.
Natural Resources:
Tianjin is rich in geothermal resources.
DEDA is in the central geothermal area of Tianjin. The
geothermal resources, which is about 70-90 degrees centigrade,
is highly profitable for utilization.

Tianjin, the economic center in Bohai Sea
